Overview
Student life at South Boston Catholic Academy is organized by 3 guiding principles:
Faith
South Boston Catholic Academy strives through the stewardship of Catholic Education to build character and faith formation that will ensure our students develop a capacity for life long learning, spiritual growth, and compassionate social engagement.
These goals are fostered through a range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including our continued and close relationships with St. Brigid and Gate of Heaven Parishes, Campus Ministry, on-going school retreats, and the SBCA Service Club.
Family Spirit
Family spirit permeates the school life of South Boston Catholic Academy. Students benefit from the dedication of their parents and families, the wide-ranging community partnerships that have been forged throughout the Greater Boston area, and the students’ commitment to one another—engaging a diverse set of people toward an enriching and common purpose of education and fellowship.
South Boston Catholic Academy cultivates this family spirit through its strong Home and School Association, its partnerships with service organizations such as the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Junior Achievement, City Year, and Cradles to Crayons, and the school’s commitment to fostering professional and student development through relationships with educational institutions including Lesley University and Boston College.
Academic Excellence
The curriculum of South Boston Catholic Academy has been designed to develop the whole person and to allow all students to reach their fullest potential. Through small class sizes, proven curriculum, counseling services, and a distinguished faculty and staff, SBCA provides students a range of opportunities to develop academic skills, emotional maturity, and a spiritual life—the tenets of the well-rounded and lifelong student.
The Pre-K through 8th Grade curriculum offers such distinguished courses of study as the Literacy Collaborative developed by Lesley University, Pearson enVisions MATH, and Scott Foresman Reading Street. Our curriculum is further enhanced by the Boston Connects sponsored by Boston College’s Lynch School of Education.
