4th grade Science- Bird Beak Buffet

[[Show as slideshow]]This week in science, 4th grade learned about adaptions. They did an activity that involved thinking about how a bird’s beak influences its ability to eat. Using binder clips, spoons, clothespins, and scissors as different types of “beaks”, they found out which was better for picking up the “food” (rubber bands, paperclips, macaroni, and toothpicks). Check out the students in action as they raced to pick up as much food as possible with their beak!

When learning about the building blocks of life, 4th grade discussed the similarities and differences in animal and plant cells. To make this idea tasty, they used jello, lifesavers, tic tacs, and cups to represent different parts of the cell!

Mastery Club

A club for students interested in going “Above and Beyond” the learning we do in the classroom!

This is an optional, extra learning activity. Students who are interested may chose from the topics below to expand their knowledge.

Anyone in the fourth or fifth grade can participate as much as they choose.

Each participant will be responsible for his or her own research for this project. Activity research can be done both at school and home. Once you have become an expert on the chosen topic, come and tell Ms. Starck at recess or after school
