Hello Everybody!
Good to be back here in my classroom and looking forward to a wonderful week with the students.
Your children are on their way to being K2 Students. We do have some readers in the class and that makes me very happy. I did want to remind all of you to keep reading to your child and encourage them all to write at home. I would love to have all of the children start writing in their classroom journal. Have them draw pictures and write what they have drawn under them. And then lead into one or two sentences. The students will need your guidance to do this but it will get them ready for writing and knowing sentence structure for K2. Don’t worry I will journal with them in class and expose them to this before they are to do this with you at home.
We are learning all about dinosaurs this week and animals next week . What would be better than learning all about animals in a classroom? Learning about them at the Zoo! We are looking forward to this trip. Can’t wait.
Our Butterflies have not come out of their cocoons yet. We’ll let you know all about it when they do.
Let’s have a great four weeks together!

Hi Everybody.
The students in K1 C have been travelling through the solar system and are having fun doing it. The students have already visited The Sun (very hot and too hot to stay!). So off we travelled in our space shuttles with our Astronaut suits on. From Mercury to Venus to Earth to Mars and now we are on Jupiter. Thanks to Gianna’s knowlege of the planets we know about the Great Red Spot!
The children have already made thier own space shuttles out of used paper towel rolls and they have water colored thier own planets on coffee filters. We are in the middle of a solar system paper mach’e project. Hopefully by the end of the week we will have our finished Solar System hanging from our ceiling.
The students are working on the letter X right now. Almost done! We are going to be starting Book 3 of the Bob Books. Also the children have been show and telling themselves. This gives us all a chance to get to know each other and this gives the children the spotlight that they deserve.
I look forward to a beautiful Spring with the students. We are going to plant flowers and watch butterflies grow. At one point we are going to learn all about baby animals.
Always Having Fun in K1!

Hi Everybody
I hope that you are all having a great month. So far February has been wonderful and the children have been too. The children are having a great time with the All About Me program. Each child is sharing themselves with everybody and we are all learning about eachother. I am giving each child the oppurtunity to show and tell themselves. Most of them, even the quiet children love the spotlight and don’t stop sharing. I love it. I am writing down all of the things that they say. I look forward to sharing them with you.
Just a few Reminders! The Valentine’s Day Party is on Fri. the 12th. Please send in signed and addressed Valentines. It will give the children good practice writing their name. They do not have to write the other childre’s name (you can if you want)The children will make a craft and pass out Valentines and eat goodies. I am not sure if a Mystery Reader has already volunteered to come in. Let me know if you woudl like to Mystery Read.
See you all soon.

Dear Parents,
The students helped us make soup. I think most of them enjoyed it. I did! Thank you for donating food items. We read Chicken Soup With Rice. The children liked this book and enjoyed the Rhyming words in it.
Next week I will send home information about the All About Me project. I look forward to learning more about your child. I want them to enjoy working with me and you at home on this project.
Conferences will be on January 29th.
I will set up a schedule and post it so you can sign up. If any of the available times do not work for you, we can find another convenient time that works for the both of us.
Have a great weekend!

Happy New Year!
I hope you are all well and enjoying your vacation. Did everybody have a great Christmas? We did. All of my boys still believe and that makes it so nice.
I would like to thank all of you for your very generous gift. To those of you that sent in gifts with the children that was so nice too. Thank you. I do appreciate all of you and your children.
I look forward to starting the year with my students. We have conferences at the end of the month. I will send home info. on the conferences when we get back to school.
Enjoy the snow! Hopefully the rain won’t take it all away!

K1 C
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I would like to thank all of you who donated to the Thanksgiving Feast. Also thank you to the parents that visited our classroom. I hope you enjoyed K1C’s little presentation.
I would like to take this opportunity to let all of you know how happy your children make me and Ms. Maureen.
When I asked the children to tell me what they were thankful for, they all told me that they were thankful for somebody in their lives not something. I was very touched !(as some of you witnessed my happy tears!) There are some children who could be thankful for their video games or a doll or going to Disney World. Not your children! They already know that having eachother is more important then something materialistic. You are all doing a great job with your children. You do not need me to tell you that I know, but I am so impressed with these kids!
As we enter the Christmas season, your children will be learning the meaning of Christmas, what Advent is all about and that God made us Special.
Throughout this month the children will be working on their letters, numbers, colors and shapes.
We are also going to be working on learning about our bodies and our selves. Why we should eat healthy, keep clean, be good to ourselves and others.
K1 C conferences don’t begin until January. But If you feel like you need to discuss your child please let me know. I will gladly find the time.

Hello K1 C Parents,
Thank you for being patient. My first time blogging with all of you!
I hope that you are enjoying your child’s experience here in K1C. So far everybody seems to be doing well. We are having a great time and the children are happy. We have already done so much here in K1 and we are looking forward to so much more. From Fingerpainting, cutting and gluing to writing the letters and our names, to singing and dancing and following the school rules, your child is settling right in.
Thank you to Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Joyce and Mrs. Hynes for Mystery Reading to our class. This Friday we have another Mom coming in to read . I know her boys will be thrilled to see her come through that door.
I did want to tell you a little bit about our Book Buddies Club. Your child will sit with a Third grader and read a story with them. When they are done they will discuss what they have read. This gives the children an oppurtunity to work with the older students and ofcourse learn to read!
Don’t forget Show and Tell is on Fridays! Please send in a toy or object that begins with the letter of the week. This week is Letter Ee!
I will keep you posted on any new developments happening here in the classroom.
Thank You for visiting our Blog!
