Rev. Robert E. Casey

Fr. Casey was born in Boston, MA and raised in Milton, MA and Dorchester, MA.  He attended St. Mark’s and St. Gregory’s Elementary School, Christopher Columbus Catholic High School, and received a B.A. in Biology from St. Anselm College, Manchester, NH in 1981.  He entered St. Anselm Abbey after graduation and was welcomed as Benedictine monk until 1984 when he transferred to St. John’s Seminary in Boston, and ordained a priest in June of 1987 for the Archdiocese of Boston.  Before being appointed Pastor of St. Brigid Parish in 2000 and Gate of Heaven Parish in 2002, Fr. Casey served as Team Minster at St. Joseph Parish and Sacred Heart Parish and later Holy Family Parish in Amesbury, as parochial vicar at St. Mary’s Parish, Charlestown, and St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Medford, MA.  Fr. Casey is currently the Vicar Forane for Vicariate II in the Central Region of the Archdiocese, Assistant Catholic Chaplain for the Boston Fire Department and has been Catholic Chaplain for the Medford Police Department since 1988

Mrs. Nancy Carr – Principal

Mrs. Nancy Donovan Carr was appointed as principal in 2009. Previously, Mrs. Carr served as principal of St. Brigid School and taught 4th grade at St. Mark’s School in Dorchester and in the Milton public school system. Mrs. Carr is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She received a Principal’s License from Bridgewater State University, where she also earned a master’s degree of administration in education. Mrs. Carr also received a certificate in school leadership as part of the first class of Lynch Fellows chosen to participate in the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College (est. 2010), which is focused on preparing leaders from Catholic, district and charter schools to lead urban K-12 schools toward greater effectiveness and success. Mrs. Carr is a participant in the Emmaus Series at the Barbara and Patrick Roche Center for Catholic Education at Boston College, supporting Catholic school principals’ continuing development in spiritual leadership, curriculum and instructional design, and business management to take their schools to the next level. She is also a participant in the Catholic School Leadership Institute at Emmanuel College, aimed at advancing the principles and techniques of standards-based teaching and learning.

Mrs. Jamie Brown – Assistant Principal

Jamie Brown is the Assistant Principal at South Boston Catholic Academy, where she has previously worked as a teacher and instructional leader. She was a member of the Lynch Leadership Academy’s fifth cohort, where she obtained a principal’s licensure as well as sharpened her educational leadership skills through her professional coursework and coaching.

Professionally, Mrs. Brown has served on the Boston Foundation’s Teacher Advisory Board. Through this work, Mrs. Brown saw the benefit of cross-sector collaboration and the importance of all teachers and leaders coming together. Additionally, Mrs. Brown has participated in the Instructional Rounds Network, the Achievement Network, and has been both a presenter and participant at the Summer Technology Academy. Mrs. Brown’s engagement within these different capacities has fueled her passion for school improvement with a focus on leveraging technology.

Originally a New Jersey native, she moved to Massachusetts to attend Boston College where she received a B.A. in Elementary Education/Human Development. She continued her work at Boston College where she received an M.A. in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology. Jamie also spent time in Melbourne, Australia, where she had the opportunity to teach and study abroad. After college, she worked for Boston College implementing and coordinating the International Student Teaching program, where she placed undergraduates in various teaching positions in several countries on six different continents.
